THE PROBLEM

Most organizations don’t have a goal problem. They have a target problem.

Some targets are too easy to create meaningful change.

Others are so distant or unrealistic that people stop believing they can reach them.

The right target sits somewhere between the two.

If you can break the record before lunch, it probably isn’t going to change your organization.

Set a target worth changing for.

Hard enough to require growth.
Possible enough to inspire action.

Impossible ends the conversation. Hard starts the plan.

A record is only the beginning.

World Record Mindset™ connects the target you choose, the way you prepare for it, and the culture you build through the pursuit.

01

THE TARGET

THE GOLDILOCKS RECORD™

What are we trying to grow, improve, increase or change?

Choose a target that is hard enough to require growth, but possible enough to create belief and action.

02

THE STRATEGY

THE PERSONAL BEST FRAMEWORK™

How do we prepare to do something we can’t do yet?

Use personal bests to make progress visible and build belief on the way toward a difficult target.

03

THE CULTURE

THE INFINITE GAME

What happens after the attempt?

The record gives people a finite target. The Infinite Game is what continues after it — building habits, skills and a culture of ongoing improvement.

The finite game gives people something to achieve.
The infinite game gives them someone to become.

FROM RECORD HOLDER TO RECORD BUILDER

I don’t just set records. I help other people pursue theirs.

From individual athletes to an entire school, I’ve helped people identify records worth pursuing, prepare for the attempt and experience what happens when a meaningful target becomes real. Some attempts ended with a world record. Some didn’t. Both taught me what a record can create.

Monroe Elementary

675 students. One shared record attempt.

A Minnesota elementary school brought hundreds of students together for a Guinness World Records attempt. They didn’t earn the record, but it gave me my first close look at what a large-scale, shared record experience could require.

Theo

Breaking barriers — and world records.

I helped Theo prepare for his first world record attempt, which grew into multiple records supported by his school and community.

Ashley

Six records. One shared attempt.

Ashley and I trained together for a series of inline skating records and ultimately set six Guinness World Records between us.

Bring World Record Mindset into your organization.

02 – RECORD EXPERIENCES

Turn the mindset into a shared pursuit.

OFFICIAL WORLD RECORD
INTERNAL RECORD

I’ve spent years learning what happens between “I can’t” and “I did.”

I’ve set world records, missed world records, adjusted, trained and tried again. I’ve also helped other people prepare for their own attempts — from individual athletes to hundreds of students pursuing one shared record.

World Record Mindset™ grew out of those experiences. I kept seeing the same pattern: the right target changes how people approach the challenge, personal bests create belief, and the pursuit creates opportunities for growth.

What could your next record be?
